Let’s start the day with a little mocha. And not just coffee but a smoothie with coffee AND chocolate. Now we’re talking!
To get that rich chocolatey flavor, we’ll use cocoa powder. It is high in antioxidants and such a good addition to our pantries! Chocolate in general can be very tricky to keep in our homes. Sometimes it feels like a chocolate bar or chocolate chips are just calling us from inside the fridge.
That’s why we love cocoa powder. You can add a tablespoon or two to this smoothie with coffee and not worry about feeling guilty.
MUST HAVE SMOOTHIE TIP
Ripe bananas are the key to having naturally sweetened recipes. This is literally a game changer to our smoothies. No need to add artificial sweeteners. Just let the bananas work their magic!
Whenever our spotted ripe bananas are ready, peel them, and cut the banana into 4 pieces so we can remember how many pieces make up one banana. Then put them in a single layer and place them in the freezer. This will help give our smoothies the right consistency and remain nice and cool.
Check out my video where we talk all about ripe bananas and walk through how to make this smoothie with coffee recipe. Smoothie with coffee recipe starts at minute 2:53.
HOW TO MAKE
This smoothie recipe with coffee recipe takes only 10 minutes to make. Start by making coffee, just do it the way you typically would do in the morning. Whenever your coffee is ready, set aside 3/4 cup of coffee and let it chill for 5 minutes.
You can also use already made cold brewed coffee for a quick and easy option. Just make sure to dilute the cold brewed coffee as it can pack in a big caffeine punch compared to a traditional cup of coffee.
Now add to a blender all of our ingredients: frozen bananas, cocoa powder, maca powder which gives off a little nutty flavor, vanilla extract, almond milk and our chilled coffee.
If you don’t have maca powder, you can omit it. Maca powder boosts your immune system, energy, and even your sex drive. A great addition to smoothies and sweet treats.
Blend until smooth, and serve in a glass!
That’s it for this smoothie recipe with coffee! It’s a simple recipe with an amazing flavor combination packed with nutrients, and good things for you.
