There are so many smoothies out. I have a ton out on my website with berries – strawberries, blueberries, blackberries. So today we’re going to create a smoothie with an apple and bananas. The hint of cinnamon and peanut butter is what gives this smoothie an almost apple pie like flavor.

When I was really struggling with binge eating, I wouldn’t allow myself any desserts. Let alone keep much in my home for fear that I’d binge on it all. I found smoothies were something that I actually enjoyed and felt good about eating. They slowly allowed me to get more comfortable in the kitchen and open myself up to new flavors.

It’s all about making food that you actually enjoy. If it doesn’t taste good you’re probably not gonna drink it, right?

The smoothie with apples and bananas is great any time of the year especially in the summer or fall months. So start the day with some kindness my friend.

Smoothie with Apple and Banana Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

You may be saying Emily but you don’t understand how busy my mornings are. I don’t have time to make smoothies. I get it sister. I’m up at 5:15am to get in a quick yoga and meditation on my phone before my little one wakes up. There can be a lot to do…

I recommend doing any prep you can on the weekends. That could look like thinking through what 1-2 recipes you’ll make this week such as a strawberry smoothie and this smoothie with an apple and bananas.

Then slice ripe bananas ahead of time and place them in the freezer. Frozen bananas give smoothies a nice creamy cool texture. Not to mention that ripe bananas give off a natural sweetness so need to use artificial sugars.

You can use red or green apples. It’s really about what is convenient for you. Note that green apples have a more tart flavor yet still taste phenomenal in this smoothie recipe.

Throw into your blender:

  • Apple
  • Banana
  • Cinnamon
  • Peanut butter
  • Any plant based milk
  • Vanilla extract

Enjoy my friend! Add in some granola or nuts on top for a nice little crunch. And hello to some smoothie goodness.
