Yes, the main ingredient in this lemonade is freshly squeezed lemons. Ahhh an ice cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. It doesn’t get much better than that right?

When we’re out with family or friends or even by ourselves, often we want a drink that has more flavor than water. And we may not want to grab an alcoholic drink yet we still want something fun. So that’s where this lemonade made from lemon juice and ginger comes in for the win.

Now if you want to add a bit of alcohol to this lemonade, go for it. It pairs brilliantly with vodka or whiskey. Not to mention the lemonade tastes phenomenal.

Cuisine healthy
Servings 5 cups (approx. 1 1/4 cup per serving including ice)

Total Time 5 minutes
INGREDIENTS

Ingredients

  • 3 lemons juiced
  • 3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoon honey or maple syrup or more if you like
  • 3 long springs fresh mint or more as desired (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions

  • Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and water to a pitcher.
  • Rinse the ginger and grate it with the skin using a grater or microplane. Place the ginger pulp in a strainer or dish towel. Squeeze over the pitcher to extract the liquid. You can also  use your hands and squeeze out the liquid from the ginger.
  • Add the honey and ice cubes. Taste test the lemonade. If it is tart add in more water or honey.
  • Give it a stir and pour into glasses.
  • I recommend adding the mint last to individual glasses. If you leave the mint in the pitcher for more than a day, it wilts and turns brown so best to enjoy fresh.
NOTES

Notes

If you want less ginger flavor, you can slice the ginger or use less ginger.
