This apple crisp with oats recipe is easy to make. It is sweetened with apples and topped with an oat crumble. You won’t need to worry about what’s in your friends and families’ holiday desserts and if you should really eat it. Because this recipe is oh so delicious without a bunch of unnecessary artificial sugar!

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients

  • 7 apples (combo of red and green), peeled
  • 2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger (or sub 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh apple juice

TOPPING

  • 1 1/4 cup rolled oats gluten-free if desired
  • 1/2 cup almond flour or almond meal
  • 1/2 cup almonds roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil melted
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F / 176 C.
  • Peel the apples using a paring knife.
  • In a mixing bowl, add apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, cornstarch, coconut sugar, and apple juice. Mix until well combined. Transfer mixture to 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, add topping ingredients and mix until well combined. Spread the apple mixture in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 45 minutes - 1 hour or until the top is lightly golden. Let cool and serve.
NOTES

Notes

Feel free to use water instead of apple juice. This will make it less sweet. I personally prefer using fresh apple juice.
This tastes delicious cut into individual squares and reheated in the oven.
